Role of nitrate in regulation of water use in plants

Abstract:

Dle hypotézy je během vodního deficitu značně snížen příjem nitrátů. To má za následek snížený transport nitrátů do nadzemní části rostliny a snížený podíl nitrátů asimilovaných v listech. Jelikož je aktivita nitrát reduktázy závislá na koncentraci nitrátů, snížení koncentrace nitrátů, ke které dochází vlivem vodního deficitu má za následek snížení aktivity nitrát reduktázy jak v kořenech, tak v listech. V důsledku změny aktivity nitrát reduktázy se mění iontové toky v xylému. Tento proces vede ke změnám pH vxylému. Změny pH mohou mít regulační účinek na průduchy prostřednictvím změn v redistribuci ABA. V této práci bude tedy zjišťováno, jestli se mění příjem nitrátových iontů během nedostatku vody a s tím i související obsah nitrátových iontů v rostlině. V další části se pokusíme zjistit zda-li se při nedostatku vody výrazně mění proces asimilace nitrátů v rostlině a jestli tyto změny nějak souvisí i se změnami pH xylémové šťávy, popřípadě jestli ke změnám pH vůbec dochází.

Abstract:

According to the hypothesis, under drought uptake of nitrate is reduced. This results in reduced transport of nitrate to shoot and reduced proportion of nitrate that is assimilated in leaves. As consequence of this, NRA is reduced in both roots and leaves but reduction of NRA in leaves is relatively greater. As consequence of all this ionic flux in xylem are changed. This process leads to pH changes in xylem. Changes in sap pH may consequently, change pH of leaf apoplast and, further have a regulatory effect on stomata via changes in ABA redistribution. In this work there will be find out, if the intake of nitrate ions and the content of nitrate ions in plant body will be changed under the water deficit. In the next part of the work, there will be find out, if the process of nitrate assimilation in the plant changes significantly when there is a lack of water and if this changes in assimilation are conected with changes of pH in xylem sap or if these changes of pH occur at all.
