Selected factors influencing integration of Muslims into Czech society

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je integrační proces muslimů do české společnosti. Česká republika se nevyhnula proniknutí islámu do svého společenského organismu. Přesto u nás muslimové zatím netvoří příliš početnou skupinu kvůli zeměpisné poloze a povaze historického vývoje. V průběhu 90. let minulého století byl zaznamenán výrazný nárůst počtu cizinců - mezi nimi i muslimů. Dnes se k islámu hlásí zhruba deset tisíc lidí - většinou cizinců. Česká republika je tak postavena před úkol integrace muslimských přistěhovalců do společnosti ve sféře hospodářské, sociální, kulturní a politické. Faktory jako islámské náboženství, muslimská rodina, mediální prezentace muslimů či jejich vzdělání a zaměstnání tento proces výrazně ovlivňují. Cílem této teoretické práce je objasnit způsob, jakým vybrané faktory integraci usnadňují nebo činí obtížnější. První část práce pojednává o muslimech v České republice - o jejich přítomnosti na našem území z historického hlediska, o okolnostech příchodu do českých zemí a o muslimských organizacích u nás zakládaných. Druhá část se zabývá integrací - jejími rovinami, etapami a modely. Třetí a nejobsáhlejší část popisuje faktory ovlivňující integraci muslimů do české společnosti.

Abstract:

The topic of this work is the integration process of Muslims into the Czech society. The Czech Republic did not avoid the infiltration of Islam into the societal organism. Even so Muslims do not form numerous groups, mainly becouse of the geographical position and the character of historical development in the Czech Republic. During the last decade of the nineteen century, there was an expressive growth of amount of foreigners - Muslims among them. In the present days there are approximately ten thousand people report for Islam. Most of them are foreigners. The aim of the Czech Republic is to integrate Muslim immigrants into the society in economic, social, cultural and political sphere. Factors like Islam religion, Muslim family and presentation of Muslims in media or their education and employment significantly influence this process. The aim of this theoretical work is to clarify the way how selected factors make the integration easier or more difficult. The first part of the work deals with the situtation of Muslims in the Czech Republic - their presence in our territory from the historical view, circumstances of their arrival into the Czech lands and Muslims organizations based in our state. The second part deals with integration - levels, stages and models of integration. The third and most extensive par describes factors which influence the integration of Muslims into the Czech society.
