The issue of medication addiction among people with disabilities.

Abstract:

Předkládaná rigorózní práce se zabývala problematikou závislostního chování na lécích u osob se zdravotním postižením. Teoretická část rigorózní práce se zaměřuje na obecná teoretická východiska v oblasti speciální pedagogiky, vývojové psychologie, adiktologie a metodologie. Dále se pak konkrétněji věnuje definici závislostního chování a zdravotnímu postižení včetně možných vazeb mezi těmito dvěma fenomény. Druhá oblast je věnována empirickému šetření, jehož hlavním cílem bylo zmapovat a analyzovat problematiku závislostního chování na lécích u osob se zdravotním postižením. Výzkumné šetření bylo realizováno za pomoci dotazníku vlastní konstrukce. Výzkumný vzorek tvořili studenti čtyř středních škol v Jihomoravském kraji ve věku 15-26 let. Za hlavní výsledky je možné považovat to, že skupinu respondentů je možné považovat za potencionálně rizikovou ve vztahu k nadužívání léků a marihuany či alkoholu. Mezi hlavní příčiny rozvoje možných rizik spojených se závislostí patří sociální kontakty, bolest a jiné zdravotní komplikace, samotné postižení a dané riziko zvyšuje i možnost automedikace za pomoci alkoholu a marihuany. Výsledky dotazníku z hlediska malého počtu respondentů není možné generalizovat na celou populaci, ale vyskytují se v něm tendence, které by mohly být při hlubším výzkumu potvrzeny, a tedy i zobecněny pro danou populaci.

Abstract:

The submitted rigorosum thesis dealt with the medication addiction behaviour in persons with disabilities. The theoretical part of this rigorosum thesis focuses on general theoretical recourses in fields of special education, developmental psychology, addictology and methodology. Furthermore, it focuses specifically on the definitions of addiction behaviour and disabilities including the possible linkage in between those two phenomena. The second part is devoted to an empirical survey with the main aim to map and analyse the medication addiction behaviour in persons with disabilities. The survey was carried out by a questionnaire of our design. The survey sample consisted of students of four high schools in the South Moravian Region aged 15-26 years old. That the respondent group can be considered as potentially at-risk concerning medication, marihuana or alcohol abuse, can be considered as the main result of this thesis. Among the main causes for the possible development of risks connected to addiction are social contacts, pain or other health problems, the disability itself and the risk is increased also by the possibility of self-medication with alcohol and marihuana. The survey results cannot be generalised to the whole population due to the small number of respondents but there are trends that could be confirmed by deeper research and, subsequently, generalised for the given population.
