The Bible from a linguistic point of view

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is a linguistic view of the Bible. It focuses mainly on metaphor, its conceptual theory and its presence in the Bible. The aim is to analyse the Bible from a cognitive linguistic perspective. The theoretical part is partially devoted to linguistics in general and to the history and evolution of cognitive linguistics, its most important theories, methods and trends, and in part it deals with metaphor and its historical, literary and linguistic context, including its classification. The other part is oriented towards the Bible, especially its relation to language. In the final part, a biblical fragment is analysed in order to find individual metaphors and the correspondences between them, to demonstrate the validity of the theory of conceptual metaphor.

Abstract:

El tema de esta tesis de diplomatura es una visión lingüística de la Biblia. El trabajo principalmente se centra en la metáfora, su teoría conceptual y su presencia en la Biblia. El objetivo es analizar la Biblia desde la perspectiva lingüística cognitiva. La parte teórica parcialmente está dedicada a la lingüística en general y a la historia y evolución de la lingüística cognitiva, sus teorías, métodos y tendencias más importantes, y en parte se trata de la metáfora y su contexto histórico, literario y lingüístico, incluso su clasificación. La otra parte se orienta hacia la Biblia, especialmente en su relación con el lenguaje. En la parte final se analiza un fragmento bíblico con el fin de encontrar metáforas individuales y las correspondencias realizadas entre ellas, para demostrar la validez de la teoría de la metáfora conceptual.
