The difference between male and female. Two perspectives on the demands of combined studies while parenting and working full-time.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá předpokládaný rozdíl mezi pohledem mužů a žen na zvládání kombinovaného studia na vysoké škole při rodičovství a zaměstnání. Cílem práce bude pomocí rozhovorů zjistit, jak odlišně respondenti uvedenou situaci řeší, a jak výrazně jsou v jejich způsobech jednání patrné genderově determinované rozdíly. Teoretická část práce uvede do problematiky dvojího břemena zahrnujícího nároky v zaměstnání a ve vysokoškolském studiu, dále do sociologických a psychologických aspektů rodiny, nakonec do genderových stereotypů vztahujících se k sociálním rolím žen a mužů. Praktická část práce představí empirický výzkum prostřednictvím hloubkového rozhovoru s respondenty, kteří současně studují, pracují a mají rodiny. Výsledné srovnání a vyhodnocení výsledků šetření by mělo ukázat, nakolik a v čem se liší motivace ke studiu u pracujících rodičů v případě žen a mužů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the anticipated differences in the perspectives of men and women regarding the management of combined studies at the university while juggling parenthood and employment. The objective of the study is to explore, through interviews, how respondents handle this situation differently and to what extent gender-determined differences in behavior are evident. The theoretical part of the thesis introduces the concept of the double burden, encompassing demands in both employment and higher education. It also delves into sociological and psychological aspects of family, concluding with gender stereotypes related to the social roles of women and men. The practical part presents empirical research through in-depth interviews with respondents who are concurrently studying, working, and raising families. The resulting comparison and evaluation of the survey results should reveal the extent and nature of motivational differences in studying among working parents, distinguishing between women and men.
