Gender stereotypes in family education from the perspective of high school student

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se týká tématu genderových stereotypů v rodinné výchově z pohledu středoškoláků. Teoretická část práce si klade za cíl vysvětlit čtenáři problematiku genderových stereotypů v rodině, ale v malé míře také ve škole, která na ně navazuje. Věnuji se v ní definování pojmů gender, genderových stereotypů a výchovy. Dále se zabývám rodinou a tím, jak působí odlišně na chlapce a dívky, odlišnými přístupy rodičů vůči dětem různého pohlaví spojených s odlišným očekáváním a stylem, jakým děti svoje genderové role přijímají. Zmiňuji také pohádky, hračky, hry a dětské pokoje v souvislosti s gender. Dále pracuju s tématem genderových stereotypů ve škole, jak škola na děti působí a jaký mají učitelé přístup k dětem odlišného pohlaví, jak působí na děti vrstevníci, kdo uplatňuje mateřskou a rodičovskou dovolenou, a jak jsou vykonávány domácí práce v rodinách středoškoláků. V krátkosti jsem se zaměřila také na vzdělávání a jeho vliv na uplatnění na trhu práce z pohledu gender a kariérní možnosti žen. Empirická část představuje výzkum, jehož cílem bylo zjistit, jak souvisí pohlaví a výchova studentů a studentek středních škol s jejich zkušenostmi a názory na výchovu dětí, chod domácnosti a výchovu v budoucí rodině.

Abstract:

This thesis speaks about the topic of gender stereotypes in education from the point of view of a family with children in high school. The focus of the theoretical part is to explain the issue of gender stereotypes in the family, and, in a small part, also in the school, which is providing their education. This chapter explains the notions of gender, gender stereotypes and education. The following part deals with the family and the way it affects boys and girls in a different way: different attitudes of parents towards children of different gender, connected to the different styles and expectations, set the environment in which the child receives his or her gender role. This work also mentions the stories, the toys, the games and the child's rooms in relation to gender. In addition, the thesis deals with the gender stereotypes in the school enviroment: attitude of the teachers toward kids of different gender, relationship between kids as peers, and how the household living and an eventually separation from one parent are affecting the behavior of the kid in high school. All this preface is leading to the topic of the education and its impact on the labor market from the perspective of career opportunities of women. The empirical part presents the research aimed to understand the relationship between gender and education the students of the secondary school, focusing on the school's experiences and views on education in the school and the family enviroment, at present days and in prospective for the future.
