Green management application in hotel industry

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá provozem ubytovacích zařízení ve vztahu k životnímu prostředí. Cílem práce je analyzovat aplikaci green managementu ve vybraných hotelových zařízeních, vymezit jeho výhody a nevýhody a navrhnout úpravu technické směrnice. Po nastínění situace v cestovním ruchu v České republice, včetně negativního dopadu na environment, byl popsán postup zavedení green managementu. Byla představena organizace CENIA spolu s ekologickými certifikáty, které může ubytovací zařízení získat. Z výsledků výzkumu vyplynulo, že jednotlivá ekologická ubytovací zařízení se liší pouze malým počtem zavedených ekologických opatření. Nakonec byla navržena možná změna Technické směrnice 43-2010, kterou se stanovují požadavky a ekologická kritéria pro propůjčení ochranné známky ubytovacím službám pro turisty. Byla navržena ve třech zněních podle kapacity ubytovacích zařízení. Každá tato technická směrnice byla rozčleněna na jednotlivé oblasti, energie, vody a odpady, obecný systém řízení a jiné služby. Největší pozornost přitom byla věnována oblasti energie. Zmíněna také byla příručka Going Green, minimum standards toward a sustainable hotel, kterou lze považovat za vhodný zdroj informací pro případné zájemce o green management. Autorka došla k závěru, že cestou k udržitelnému cestovnímu ruchu je aplikace green managementu. Aby cestovní ruch mohl existovat i do budoucna, je tak nutné snížit jeho negativní dopady na životní prostředí. Zde je ale nutná podpora ze strany státu a spolupráce mezi jednotlivými ubytovacími zařízeními. Důležitá je také důsledná výchova obyvatel k ekologickému myšlení a etickému přístupu k přírodě.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the operation of accommodation facilities in relation to the environment. The aim of this the work is to analyse the application of green management of selected ecological accommodations, define its advantages and disadvantages and propose a change of the technical directive. After outlining the situation of the tourist industry in the Czech Republic, including the negative impact on the environment that it has, the term green management was introduced. The organisation CENIA was introduced along with ecological certificates, which the ecological accommodations can receive. From results research it became evident that the individual ecological accommodation varies only by a small number of established environmental measures. At the end was proposed a suggestion of possible change of the Technical Directive 43-2012, which lays down the requirements and ecological criteria for the awarding of marks for the tourist accommodation service. It was designed in three versions, depending on the capacity of accommodation. Each of these technical guidelines were divided into different areas; energy, water and waste management, general management and other services. The most attention was paid to the energy domain. The Going Green pamphlet was also mentioned – minimum standards toward a sustainable hotel. It can be considered as a useful source of information for those interested in green management. The author concluded that the way to sustainable tourism is the application of green management. For tourism to exist even in the future, it is necessary to reduce its negative impacts on the environment. It is key that the state and different accommodation facilities cooperate. It is also important to teach about the environment in schools of all types, especially in primary schools.
