Reflection of the Chernobyl case in selected Czech printed media in 2011 – 25 years after the nuclear reactor accident

Abstract:

Výbuch jaderné elektrárny Černobyl se na jaře roku 2011 stal pro média znova diskutovaným tématem, 26. dubna 2011 totiž od této katastrofy uplynulo 25 let. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá prezentací kauzy výročí výbuchu v Černobylu v českých celostátních placených tištěných denících. Výzkumný vzorek představuje čtyřiadvacet novinových textů, v nichž figuruje výbuch v Černobylu jako hlavní téma a současně 25. výročí tohoto výbuchu jako motiv. Pomocí interpretace motivické analýzy a analýzy textových výrazových prostředků u těchto textů práce odhaluje nejfrekventovanější oblasti motivů, způsoby zobrazování kauzy a komunikační strategie autorů v této kauze. Zaměřuje se zejména na rozdíly v prezentaci hodnocení v přímých řečech postav a promluvách vypravěčů. Vedle toho se také zabývá otázkou, zda kauza vykazovala některé ze znaků morální paniky a zda docházelo k prezentaci ideologie.

Abstract:

Explosion of nuclear plant Chernobyl has become again very discussed topic in media in spring 2011. On the 26th of April 2011 it was 25th anniversary of this event. This thesis is focused on presentation of a case of Chernobyl explosion anniversary in Czech nationwide paid printed newspapers. The research sample features twenty-four of newspaper articles, in which figures explosion at Chernobyl as the main theme, while the 25th anniversary of the explosion as a motive. By using interpretation of motivic analysis and analysis of text expression means in these articles thesis reveals most frequent areas of motives, depiction means and communication strategies of authors in this case. It is focused in particular on distinctions in score presentation from the point of view of a direct speech and narrating. Besides that it is dealing with a question of a case exhibiting some of the signs of moral panic and if there were any ideology presentation.
