The Consequences of Neoliberalisation for Social Work Performance with People in Material Need in Municipalities in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Primárním cílem předkládané disertační práce je zjistit, jaké jsou důsledky neoliberalizace pro výkon sociální práce s lidmi v hmotné nouzi na obcích v České republice. Jako teoretická báze byl použit koncept neoliberální sociální práce, který je definován šesti hlavními znaky. Výzkumná část práce využívá smíšenou metodologii, tzv. side-by-side QUAN(qual) design. Data byla sbírána pomocí dotazníkového šetření. V rámci výsledku hlavní části kvantitativního výzkumu jsme nezjistili významnější dopady neoliberalizace na výkon sociální práce s lidmi v hmotné nouzi na obcích v ČR. V kvalitativní části výzkumu se naopak objevují motivy, které korespondují s některými znaky neoliberální sociální práce. Můžeme tak konstatovat, že současná sociální práci s lidmi v hmotné nouzi na obcích v ČR vykazuje pouze dílčí znaky neoliberalizace, jelikož jsme nalezli částečnou shodu pouze u tří ze šesti znaků konceptu neoliberální sociální práce.

Abstract:

The primary goal of the presented dissertation is to find out what are the consequences of neoliberalisation for the performance of social work with people in material need in municipalities in the Czech Republic. The concept of neoliberal social work, which is defined by six main features, was used as a theoretical basis. The research part of the work uses a mixed methodology, the so-called side-by-side QUAN(qual) design. Data was collected using a questionnaire survey. As part of the result of the main part of the quantitative research, we did not find significant effects of neoliberalisation on the performance of social work with people in material need in municipalities in the Czech Republic. In the qualitative part of the research, on the other hand, motives appear that correspond to some features of neoliberal social work. We can thus state that current social work with people in material need in municipalities in the Czech Republic shows only partial signs of neoliberalisation, as we found partial agreement with only three of the six indicators of the concept of neoliberal social work.
