Emptiness as the subject of the work of art

Abstract:

Práce má povahu analýzy problematiky prázdného ve výtvarném umění. Provazuje kulturně historickou reflexi v úvodu s okruhy otázek vyvstávajících z vlastní práce výtvarné, popsané v druhé části. Předkládá tezi o výlučných možnostech, postavení a uchopení prázdného ve výtvarném umění prostředky prostorové instalace. Snaží se obhájit myšlenku, že s prázdnem je možné zacházet jako s "materiálem" práce samotné. Pozornost je upírána k pozadí, k plánu konstrukce, na níž je stavěno, zobrazováno, na níž se odehrává artefakt sám. Je to proces vtahování zadních plánů a skrytého do popředí na světlo scény. Proces napření pozornosti k samotnému prostoru, prázdnému místu, k minimální vizuální a akustické informaci. Na prázdnou scénu je upozorňováno z perspektivy čisté prostorovosti, její geometrie, akustiky, světelných podmínek, měřítka, rozvrhu, specifičnosti místa a právě schopnosti nést a poskytovat sdělení, která jinak zapadnou. Prázdno prezentující absolutní negaci, rezignaci a skepsi ke všemu, jak ji v obecném povědomí zastupuje nihilismus je ponecháno stranou. Hledáno není prázdno existenční, neposkytující žádná východiska. Předmětem zájmu je uchopení prázdného pro možnosti a potencionalitu, kterou skýtá. Analyzuje způsoby, jakými s absencí zjevného, nedůvěrou k příběhu a předmětnému zacházeli Kazimír Malevič, Marcel Duchamp, John Cage, James Turrell, v jistém období Robert Rauschenberg, Yves Klein, Anish Kapoor, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Doug Wheeler, Ryan Gander, Heimo Zobernik.

Abstract:

The dissertation has the nature of analysis of the issue of emptiness in fine art. It links the cultural and historical reflection in the introduction with the circles of issues arising from the fine art described in the section part. It presents a thesis of exclusive options, position and comprehension of emptiness in fine art of the resources of spatial installation. It makes an effort to defend the idea that emptiness can be treated as the "material" itself. Attention is focused on the background, the construction plan on which it is built, visualised, on which the artefact itself takes place. It is the process of drawing the background plans and hidden aspects into the forefront and into the light of the scene. The process of focus of attention on the space itself, an empty place, on the minimal visual and acoustic information. Attention is focused on the empty scene from the perspective of pure spatiality, its geometry, acoustics, light conditions, scale, schedule, specificity of the place and just the capability to carry and make conveyances that would otherwise fall into place. Emptiness presenting absolute negation, resignation and scepticism to all, how nihilism represents it in general awareness. Existential emptiness that does not provide any basis is not sought. The subject-matter of interest is comprehension of emptiness for the options and potential it offers. It analyses the ways in which Kazimír Malevič, Marcel Duchamp, John Cage, James Turrell, and in a certain period, also Robert Rauschenberg, Yves Klein, Anish Kapoor, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Doug Wheeler, Ryan Gander, Heimo Zobernik and others (authors) treated the fact that there was a clear lack of faith in the story and the subject-matter.
