Forest disturbances as the source of instream wood recruitment in the Červík basin (the Moravskoslezské Beskydy Mts.)

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na problematiku říčního dřeva v povodí Červíku (Moravskoslezské Beskydy). Konkrétně bylo kvantifikováno množství a distribuce velkého říčního dřeva v jeho pravostranném přítoku Šustkula. Bylo datováno úmrtí stromů z odebraných vzorků a následně byly určené roky úmrtí porovnány s dostupnými dokumentárními daty. Diskutovány byly možné způsoby úmrtí daných stromů. Celkově bylo zaznamenáno 200 kusů velkého říčního dřeva o celkovém objemu 9,3 m3. Nejčastější roky úmrtí byly 2009, 2008 dále 2007, 2005 a 1991. Bylo zjištěno, že většina stromů pravděpoboně zemřela v souvislosti s vysokým průtokem.

Abstract:

This master thesis focuses on the issue of woody debris in the Červík basin (Moravskoslezské Beskydy mountains). To be more specific, the amount and distribution of the large woody debris was quantified within its right-bank tributary - the Šustkula stream. The death of trees was determined from the collected samples and, subsequently, the dates of death were compared with available documentary data. Possible causes of the trees deaths were discussed. 200 pieces of large woody debris were found in total, with a volume of 9,3 m3. Most common date of death were 2009, 2008, 2007, 2005 and 1991. It was found out that the majority of trees did die due to high flow.
