Magnetic anisotropy of the Ordovician sedimets form the Prague Synform

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na studium magnetické stavby ordovických sedimentů pražské synformy, která leží ve středočeské oblasti a rozkládá se zhruba mezi Prahou a Plzní. Jedná se o pilotní studii při snaze o pochopení regionálního vývoje tektonické a magnetické stavby území. Při zpracovávání práce byla použita pouze vlastní dokumentace. Odebrané vzorky a data orientace byly zpracovány metodami měření AMS a následně archivována. Byly vyhodnocovány teplotní závislosti magnetické susceptibility za nízkých i vysokých teplot, hlavní směry magnetické susceptibility a jejich vztah k vrstevnatostem, puklinám, dislokacím a směru vrtání. Nahodilé značné odchylky, které se projevily u velmi slabě magnetických hornin, pomohly zjistit, proč je někdy měření AMS závislé na směru vrtání. Po důkladné analýze a vyhodnocení dat bylo zjištěno, že tento jev způsobuje slabá vrstvička obroušené údajně nemagnetické oceli. I velmi malé množství obroušeného materiálu mělo velmi silný vliv na AMS slabě magnetických a diamagnetických hornin a mělo hodnoty řádově v X × 10-5 SI. Stavbu většiny ordovických sedimentů ovlivňují paramagnetické minerály. Výjimkou jsou křemence a silicity, které mají velmi malou magnetickou susceptibilitu zřejmě řízenou feromagnetickými minerály. Byly zjištěny sedimentární, deformované i jiné AMS stavby. Navazující práce se budou zaměřovat zejména na deformované stavby.

Abstract:

The work is focused on study of magnetic fabrics of Ordovician sedimentary rocks of Prague Synform, which is situated in the central Bohemia, within the structure named as the Prague Synform. The synform is situated between Prague and Pilsen. The work is a pilot study for understanding of regional tectonic and magnetic development of the synform. Field data and specimens were processed for AMS measuring and were archived. Dependence of magnetic susceptibility vs. temperatures variations were measured by furnace and cryostat of at high and low temperatures. Principal directions of magnetic susceptibilities were measured by kappabridge. It was analyzed their relationship to bedding, discontinuities, dislocations and directions of drilling. Plots derived from low magnetic rocks displayed some cases where the resulted direction was in dependence on drilling direction due to a diamond-drill contamination by thin layer of steel on the specimen surface. The influence of the contamination reached values X × 10-5 SI. Magnetic fabrics of majority Ordovician sediments are controlled by paramagnetic minerals except orthoquartzites and siliceous rocks, in which fabrics are controlled probably by ferromagnetic minerals. It was identified sedimentary, deformed and other magnetic fabrics. Consequential studies will be focused on deformed magnetic fabrics especially.
