The role of the manager in the selection of employees in the field of social work

Abstract:

Charakter manažera přímo i nepřímo významně ovlivňuje úspěšnost útvaru, který vede, a to platí dvojnásob u neziskových organizací poskytující sociální služby. Jeho role v neziskové organizaci se odráží od činností, které musí zastávat a které mají vliv na celkový chod, ale i úspěšnost organizace. Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje konkrétně na to, jaká je role manažera při výběru zaměstnanců v sociální práci a jaký má význam. Objasňuje činnosti manažera v organizaci a vysvětluje hlavní vybrané kontexty, které spadají do kompetencí manažera. Jedná se o kontext marketingu, personalistiky a vedení organizace z pozice sociálního pracovníka. Jako technika sběru dat byly zvoleny polostrukturované rozhovory s manažery neziskových organizací poskytující sociální služby. Zvolený výzkumný design je pak zakotvená teorie. V rámci výzkumu došlo ke zjištění, jaká je podoba procesu výběru zaměstnanců, jaké postupy a metody manažeři volí, jaká jsou jejich kritéria hodnocení a jaké jsou předpoklady pro úspěšné výběrové řízení. Došlo také k analýze rolí manažera v organizaci obecně, a díky zaměření na jeho roli a význam při výběru zaměstnanců došlo také k nalezení odpovědi na hlavní i dílčí výzkumné otázky. Výsledky této práce se dají použít jako podklady pro náměty na zefektivnění výběrového řízení v neziskových organizacích.

Abstract:

The character of the manager direcly and indirectly significantly affects the success of the department that he leads, and this is doubly true for non-profit organizations providing social services. His role in a non-profit organization is reflected in the activities he must take and which affect the overall operation as well as the success of the organization. This thesis focuses specifically on the role of the manager in the selection of employees in social work and what is important. It clarifies the activities of the manager in the organization and explains the main selected contexts that fall within the competencies of the manager. It is the context of marketing, human resources and management of the organization from the position of a social worker. Semi-structured interviews with managers of non-profit organizations providing social services were chosen as the technique of data collection. The chosen research design is then grounded theory. The research found out what the form of the selection process of employees, what procedures and methods managers choose, what are their evaluation criteria and what are the prerequisites for a successful selection procedure. There was also an analysis of the role of the manager in the organization in general, and thanks to the focus on his role and importance in the selection of employees, an answer was also found to the main and partial research questions. The results of this work can be used as a basis for ideas for streamlining the selection process in non-profit organizations.
