Fertility change during the Neolithic demographic transition: the relative metabolic load of lactation

Abstract:

V mé práci jsem se zaměřila na to, jak byla ovlivněna či změněna porodnost žen v době neolitické demografické tranzice a jaké faktory zapříčinily zvýšenou porodnost v době neolitu. Pomocí rešerše literatury jsem zjistila, že faktorů, které ovlivňovaly plodnost a porodnost žen v době zemědělství, je několik: změny v metabolické zátěži žen, vliv hormonů v době laktace, usedlý způsob života, zvýšení porodnosti a oproti tomu došlo ke snížení úmrtnosti v reprodukčním věku. Ale narostla úmrtnost dětí v mladším věku 3 5 let. Na základě zjištěných údajů je možné tvrdit, že přijetí zemědělství v době neolitu mělo tři možné teorie: akulturační, migrační a substrátovou. Ve střední Evropě pravděpodobné dle modelových výzkumů se zemědělství šířilo díky teorii akulturační. Docházelo k tomu, že lovci a sběrači postupně přijímali zemědělství a jeho technologie a kulturu. Tato změna ovlivnila metabolickou zátěž žen a tím i jejich plodnost.

Abstract:

In my thesis I focused on how birth rates of women were affected or changed during the neolithic demographic transition and what factors caused an icreased birth rate during the neolithic period. I have found a literature research that there are several factors which affected fertility and birth rate at the time of farmig: ganges in the metabolic burden of women, hormonal effects during lactation, settled way of life, increased of birth rates on the other hand there was reduction in mortality in reproductive age. But there has been increase in mortality among children aged three to five years old. Based on detected data can be claimed that the admission of agriculture during the neolithic period had three possible theories: aculturative, migration and substrate. In the Central Europe agriculture was spread through the theory of aculturative according to model research. It has come to fakt that hunters and picters have gradually adopting agriculture and his technology and culture. This change affected the metabolic burden of women and their fertility.
