Introducing a Four-Day Working Week in a Manufacturing Company from a Behavioural Finance Perspective

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá zavedením čtyřdenního pracovního týdne ve výrobním podniku z behaviorálně finanční perspektivy. Cílem je analyzovat současné nastavení pracovního týdne a doporučit, zda je či není vhodné zavedení zkráceného pracovního týdne. V teoretické části je shrnut vývoj pracovní doby, uvedeny výsledky případových studií firem, které přijaly koncept čtyřdenního pracovního týdne, a jejich dopady na hospodaření a spokojenost zaměstnanců. V praktické části je nejprve představen výrobní podnik a provedena finanční analýza. Dále jsou v rámci projektu podle výsledků dotazníkového šetření mezi zaměstnanci podniku navržena a upravena kritéria zavedení čtyřdenního pracovního týdne. Je provedeno hodnocení dopadu na hospodaření podniku a navrženo doporučení pro implementaci. Závěrem jsou navržena témata na další výzkum v této problematice.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the introduction of a four-day workweek in a manufacturing company from a behavioural finance perspective. The aim is to analyse the current working week setup and recommend whether or not the introduction of a shortened working week is appropriate. The theoretical part summarizes the evolution of working hours, presents the results of case studies of firms that have adopted the four-day workweek concept and their impact on performance and employee satisfaction. In the practical part, the manufacturing company is first introduced and a financial analysis is carried out. Next, the project proposes and modifies the criteria for the introduction of the four-day working week according to the results of a questionnaire survey among the company's employees. An evaluation of the impact on the company's performance is carried out and recommendations for implementation are proposed. Finally, topics for further research on this issue are proposed.
