Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá politickými a historickými změnami ve vztazích mezi domorodými a nedomorodými Australany a tím, jak jsou tyto změny zachyceny v australském filmu po roce 1992. V tomto roce byl uzavřen soudní spor pod názvem Mabo, jehož výsledkem bylo odmítnutí Austrálie jako terra nullius (prázdná země), což byl termín dlouho používaný jako ospravedlnění ke kolonizaci Austrálie a utlačování původního obyvatelstva. Práce analyzuje následující filmy, aby bylo předvedeno, jak australský film zachycuje rostoucí autonomii domorodého obyvatelstva: Beneath Clouds (2002), The Tracker (2002), One Night the Moon (2002), Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002), Ten Canoes (2006) a Australia (2008).

Abstract:

This thesis analyses the official political as well as historical changes that concern the Aboriginal/non-Aboriginal relations in Australia and their portrayal in the post-Mabo cinema, that is after the Mabo decision of 1992. In order to demonstrate the manner in which the growing autonomy of the Aboriginal people have been reflected in the cinema, selected feature films made after the 1992 Mabo decision are examined in this thesis: Beneath Clouds (2002), The Tracker (2002), One Night the Moon (2002), Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002), Ten Canoes (2006) and Australia (2008).
