Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci analyzuji vybrané příklady použití typologie v polské fotografii po roce 2012. Předmětem mého zájmu jsou především díla a projekty, v nichž je klasická forma typologie přizpůsobena potřebám subjektivního autorského příběhu: o Polsku, světě a civilizačních problémech v druhé dekádě 21. století, ale také v autobiografických vyprávěních. Výchozím bodem je pro mě fotografický dokument, který je přirozeně spojen s fotografickou typologií. I když je toto vnímání stále přítomné a hluboce zakořeněné, mezi současnými fotografickými realizacemi nacházím stále více příkladů nových způsobů typologizace. Autoři v nich svobodně využívají formu a autoritu fotografické typologie a oddalují se od pracovní metodologie založené na řazení, systemizaci a označování charakteristik. Typologie jako taková by tedy měla být stále více vnímána jako umělecká strategie: nástroj k vyvolání specifické reakce diváka, forma k posílení sdělení, struktura k vytvoření efektu měřítka nebo jako gesto ke zdůraznění autorova nasazení. Neutuchající obliba typologie a její široké zastoupení v polské fotografii posledního desetiletí je pro mě fenoménem, kterému jsem sám podlehl a na který se v této práci dívám.

Abstract:

In my thesis I analyse selected examples of the use of typology in Polish photography after 2012. I am mainly interested in works and projects in which the classical form of typology is adapted to the needs of a subjective authorial narrative: about Poland, the world and the problems of civilization in the second decade of the 21st century, but also in autobiographical narratives. For me, the starting point is the photographic document, which is naturally linked to photographic typology. Although this perception is still present and deeply rooted, I find more and more examples of new ways of typologizing among contemporary photographic realizations. In them, the authors freely use the form and authority of photographic typology and move away from a working methodology based on ordering, systematizing and labeling characteristics. As a result, typology itself should increasingly be seen as an artistic strategy: a tool to elicit a specific response from the viewer, a form to reinforce a message, a structure to create an effect of scale, or a gesture to emphasize the author's commitment. The enduring popularity of typology and its widespread representation in Polish photography of the last decade is a phenomenon that I myself have succumbed to, and which I address in this thesis.
