Continuous integration in Business Intelligence in DHL IT Services

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je navrhnout implementaci nástroje průběžné integrace v oddělení Business Intelligence ve firmě DHL IT Services. Dílčím cílem je porovnání dostupných řešení na trhu a vybrání toho nejvhodnějšího pro následné nasazení. Teoretická část se zaobírá oblastí agilních metodik vývoje a popisuje jejich přidanou hodnotu v porovnání s tradičními metodikami vodopádového typu. V návaznosti na to jsou představena specifika odvětví Business Intelligence a jsou nastíněny možnosti konkrétního využití nástrojů průběžné integrace. V praktické části je blíže představeno oddělení, kde má být řešení implementováno. Na základě porovnání je vybráno nejvhodnější řešení a dále je popsán detailní postup jeho zavedení. Závěrem je vytvořen nový způsob řízení procesu vývoje, který vyplývá z navržené implementace. Hlavním přínosem práce je vytvoření funkčního návrhu na zavedení průběžné integrace v Business Intelligence na základě teoretických i praktických poznatků.

Abstract:

The main aim of the diploma thesis is to develop a proposal for the implementation of a continuous integration tool in Business Intelligence at DHL IT Services. The partial aim is to compare available solutions in the market and select the most appropriate solution for the subsequent deployment. The theoretical part describes the area of agile development methodologies and highlights their added value compared to the traditional methods of waterfall type. Furthermore, the specifics of the Business Intelligence sector are presented together with the potential use of the continuous integration. Based on the comparison, the most appropriate solution is selected and the detailed procedure for its implementation is described. Finally, a new way to manage the development life-cycle is created, it results from the proposed implementation. The main benefit of this thesis is the creation of the functional proposal of continuous integration in Business Intelligence on the basis of theoretical and practical knowledge.
