Development of REST API for web application

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje vývoji backendového API pro webovou aplikaci určené živnostníkům. Uživatelé této aplikace budou moci efektivně evidovat jejich odběratele, zaznamenávat vykonávané práce a čas strávený nad konkrétními úkoly. Pomocí aplikace bude možné ze získaných dat vygenerovat faktury určené odběratelům. V teoretické části práce se zaměřím na analýzu odborných zdrojů, jejich porovnání a zprostředkování zpětné vazby na konkrétní zdroje. Dále popíšu technologie využité při realizaci této aplikace. V praktické části provedu průzkum trhu, ve kterém zjistím požadavky živnostníků na konkrétní funkcionality aplikace. Následně provedu rešerši a srovnání databázových technologií podporovaných frameworkem Hibernate. Na základě nabytých poznatků provedu výběr vhodné databázové technologie. V dalším kroku navrhnu datový model a implementuji ve frameworku Spring Boot s využitím technologie Hibernate. Výsledkem práce bude vyvinuté REST API pro výše zmíněnou aplikaci. Jedná se o backendovou část aplikace, jejíž úkolem je zpracování dat a ukládání do databáze. Ověření funkčnosti bude možné provést s využitím Swagger UI, ve kterém bude možno odesílat příslušné requesty a simulovat tak funkcionalitu frontendu.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis is devoted to the development of a backend API for a web application intended for freelancers. Users of this application will be able to effectively register their customers, record work performed, and time spent on specific tasks. Using the application, it will be possible to generate invoices for customers from the data obtained. In the theoretical part of the work, I will analyse professional sources, compare them, and provide feedback on specific sources. Next, I will describe the technologies used in the implementation of this application. In practical part of thesis, I will conduct market survey, in which I will find out the requirements of entrepreneurs for the specific functionalities of the application. Subsequently, I will conduct research and comparison of database technologies supported by the Hibernate framework. Based on the acquired knowledge, I will select a suitable database technology. In the next step, I will design the data model and implement it in the Spring Boot framework using Hibernate technology. The result of the work will be a developed REST API for the aforementioned application. This is the backend part of the application whose task is data processing and storage in the database. It will be possible to verify the functionality using Swagger UI, in which it will be possible to send the relevant requests and thus simulate the functionality of the frontend.
