Open source IoT management platforms

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá problematikou internetu věcí se zaměřením na open source platformy pro jeho správu. Cílem práce bylo položení dostatečného teoretického základu k pochopení IoT problematiky a následné představení IoT management platforem, jejich porovnání a realizace IoT řešení s jejich pomocí. Teoretický základ práce byl shromážděn rešerší a analýzou dostupných zahraničních a českých zdrojů. Práce představuje historii internetu věcí a jeho definiční vymezení. Dále práce popisuje oblast senzorů a aktuátorů v IoT řešení a věnuje se různým konektivitám a komunikačním protokolům, které lze při realizaci využít. Detailněji je popsána problematika platforem pro správu internetu věcí a jsou představeni jak komerční, tak open source zástupci. V rámci práce je s pomocí open source platforem prakticky realizováno několik modelových IoT řešení a následně jsou tyto platformy porovnány na základě poznatků z jejich realizace a vlastností. Dle teoretického rámce práce bylo stanoveno celkem sedm hodnotících kritérií. Vlastnosti IoT platforem byly posuzovány metodou TOPSIS, přičemž k určení vah kritérií byla využita Saatyho metoda.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the Internet of Things with an emphasis on open source management platforms. The aim of the work was to lay a sufficient theoretical foundation for understanding IoT and subsequently present and compare IoT management platforms, as well as implement IoT solutions using them. The theoretical basis was gathered by research and analysis of available foreign and Czech sources. The thesis presents the history of IoT and its definition. Furthermore, the thesis describes the domain of sensors and actuators in IoT solutions and discusses the different connectivity and communication protocols that can be used in its implementation. The topic of IoT management platforms is described in detail and both commercial and open source platforms are presented. Several IoT model solutions are practically implemented with the help of open source platforms and then these platforms are compared based on the insights gained from their implementation and features. Based on the theoretical framework of the thesis, a total of seven criteria were established. The characteristics of IoT platforms were assessed using the TOPSIS method, and Saaty’s method was used to determine the weights of the criteria.
