Abstract:

This graduate thesis focuses on positive psychology and its possible positive impact on mental health and resilience of workers employed in helping professions, primarily social workers. In the beginning the first chapter of the thesis focuses on the basic introduction of positive psychology as such and continues with its definition, concept, brief history and goals, which it aims to fulfill. This chapter also focuses on the theory of well-being and on some of the factors that positively affect human happiness. The second chapter presents the possible uses of positive psychology in the work environment and analyses the psychological stress and hardship that workers in helping professions have to deal with. The chapter continues with the positive perspective in social work and the benefits that positive social worker can gain and also positive factors that can affect them. The last but also important chapter focuses on the criticism of various authors on positive psychology and its limitations. This thesis aims to search and compile scientific literature to approach positive psychology and its possible positive and negative use for social worker´s mental health, resilience and work performance.

Abstract:

Táto absolventská práca sa zaoberá pozitívnou psychológiou a jej možným pozitívnym vplyvom na psychické zdravie a odolnosť pracovníkov zamestnaných v pomáhajúcich profesiách a to primárne sociálnych pracovníkov. V úvodnej prvej kapitole sa práca zameriava na základné predstavenie pozitívnej psychológie ako takej a venuje sa jej definícií, konceptu, stručnej histórií a cieľom, o ktorých naplnenie sa usiluje. Táto kapitola ďalej predstavuje teóriu spokojnosti a tiež sa zaoberá faktormi, ktoré pozitívne ovplyvňujú ľudské šťastie. Druhá kapitola sa venuje využitiu pozitívnej psychológie v pracovnom prostredí a s akou záťažou sa pracovníci v pomáhajúcich profesiách musia vysporiadať. Ďalej nadväzuje na pozitívnu perspektívu v sociálnej práci a benefity, ktorými môže pozitívny sociálny pracovník oplývať a pozitívne faktory, ktoré ho môžu ovplyvňovať. Posledná ale dôležitá kapitola je zameraná na kritické pohľady rôznych autorov na pozitívnu psychiku a jej limity. Úlohou tejto práce je pomocou kompilácie odbornej literatúry priblížiť pozitívnu psychológiu a jej možné pozitíva a negatíva využitia tohto psychologického odvetvia pre sociálneho pracovníka, jeho psychické zdravie, odolnosť a pracovný výkon.
