Influence of research and history on creation of seating furniture - chair.

Abstract:

Teoretická práce se věnuje tématu židle, hledá souvislosti historické, technologické, ergonomické, ekologické i filosofické. Na základě vytvoření vizuálního archivu a jeho třídění hodnotí jednotlivé návrhy dle vlastních kritérií. Práce srovnává staré a nové ikony a nalézá nové souvislosti a význam jednotlivých návrhů, bez opakování známých informací z dostupné literatury. Cílem práce je nalézt a ověřit funkční principy používané při navrhování, které jsou testovány v praktické části. Tématem výzkumu tak bylo formulovat pravidla, která by byla univerzálně použitelná při navrhování sedacího nábytku. Testovanou hypotézou bylo zúročení důkladného výzkumu a jeho zapojení do procesu navrhování, které mění způsob práce designéra. Praktická část se věnuje vlastním návrhům židle a pokusům o aplikaci navržených postupů v praxi. Návrhy jsou zpětně hodnoceny podle stejných kritérií, dle kterých jsou hodnoceny i vybrané příklady z vizuálního archivu. Výsledný návrh uvedený v této práci je v době dokončení textové části realizován a prochází poslední fází vývoje před spuštěním malosériové produkce.

Abstract:

The theoretical work deals with the topic of chairs, looking for historical, technological, ergonomic, ecological and philosophical contexts. Based on the creation of a visual archive and its classification, it evaluates individual designs according to its own criteria. The work compares old and new icons and finds new contexts and meaning of individual designs, without repeating known information from the available literature. The aim of the work is to find and verify the functional principles used in design, which are tested in the practical part. The topic of the research was to formulate rules that would be universally applicable when designing seating furniture. The hypothesis tested was the interest in thorough research and its involvement in the design process, which changes the way the designer works. The practical part deals with the chair's own designs and attempts to apply the proposed procedures in practice. Proposals are evaluated retrospectively according to the same criteria, according to which selected examples from the visual archive are also evaluated. The final design presented in this work is implemented at the time of completion of the text part and goes through the last phase of development before the start of small series production.
