Web Application for Automated Feedback to Participants of Cybersecurity Training

Abstract:

This work aims to create a prototype of a web application that allows the provision of feedback to participants in cybersecurity training. The work describes the process of design, creation, and testing of the application. The proposed and created solution provides the following types of feedback: training graph, summary graph, reference graph, mistake analysis, and timeline. The application consists of a backend part implemented in Java and a frontend part that is implemented using the Angular framework. The data recorded during the training taking place in the KYPO platform serve as input for the application. To verify the functionality of the application, a cybersecurity training was organized, after which the participants were shown feedback using the developed application. The suitability of the provided feedback was subsequently evaluated by a questionnaire. The questionnaire results highlight the fact that providing appropriate feedback is required to improve the educational process through cybersecurity training.

Abstract:

Cieľom tejto práce je vytvoriť prototyp webovej aplikácie, ktorá umožní poskytovanie spätnej väzby účastníkom tréningov v oblasti kybernetickej bezpečnosti. Práca popisuje proces návrhu, tvorby a testovania aplikácie. Navrhnuté a vytvorené riešenie poskytuje nasledujúce typy spätnej väzby: tréningový graf, sumárny graf, referenčný graf, analýzu príkazov a časovú os. Aplikácia pozostáva z back-endovej časti implementovanej v jazyku Java a front-endovej časti implementovanej za pomoci nástroja Angular. Ako vstup pre tvorbu spätnej väzby slúžia dáta zaznamenané v rámci tréningov prebiehajúcich na platforme KYPO. Pre overenie funkčnosti aplikácie bol zorganizovaný kyberbezpečnostný tréning, po ktorom bola účastníkom zobrazená spätná väzba pomocou vyvinutej aplikácie. Vhodnosť poskytnutej spätnej väzby bola následne vyhodnotená dotazníkom. Výsledky dotazníku poukazujú na fakt, že poskytovanie vhodnej spätnej väzby je žiadané vylepšenie procesu vzdelávania pomocou kyberbezpečnostných tréningov.
