Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena především na lingvistické (ale také syntaktické a fonetické) jevy objevující se v knihách Lewise Carrolla, Alice’s adventures in Wonderland a Through the looking-glass and what Alice found there. Cílem této práce je zaprvé vybrat z těchto knih a přiblížit čtenáři nejčastěji použité lingvistické jevy a zadruhé objasnit, že knihy o Alence jsou skutečně příběhy pro děti. Carrollovy jazykové vtipy a slovní hříčky jsou na jednu stranu logické a velice důmyslné, na druhou stranu jsou ovšem konstruovány na úrovni myšlení dítěte předškolního věku. Práce je rozdělena na kapitoly podle jednotlivých vybraných jevů. V každé kapitole je možné najít příklady, vysvětlení těch konkrétních jazykových jevů, ale také vysvětlení jejich přínosu pro dětského čtenáře, a tím i popularity knih.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on the language features used in Lewis Carroll’s books Alice’s adventures in Wonderland and Through the looking-glass and what Alice found there. The goal of this work is firstly to choose, classify and explain language features which are most commonly used in the books and secondly to state that the Alice’s books are intended to be children’s books. There is shown that although Carroll’s jokes and puns, provided in the Alice books has a logical and well-thought structure, they are very simple – on the level of understanding of preschool-age child. The thesis is divided into chapters matching the selected language features. In each chapter there are examples and introduction of a language feature provided and also there is a discussion of the significance of the particular language feature for children.
