Economic policy through DSGE model with a underground economy

Abstract:

Cílem práce je specifikovat vlivy fiskální politiky na dynamiku vývoje vybraných makroekonomických ukazatelů při zohlednění existence šedé ekonomiky. Pomocí kontrafaktuální analýzy je porovnávána dynamika dopadů vládních opatření v závislosti na fázi koronavirové krize. Pro účely analýzy je vybrán odpovídající stochastický model všeobecné rovnováhy otevřené ekonomiky uvažující rozdělení ekonomiky na formální a neformální část. V rámci teoretické části jsou diskutovány dosavadní poznatky týkající se šedé ekonomiky, rovněž je představen modelový přístup. Praktická část přináší odhad modelu, zvolené apriorní nastavení, simulace alternativního nastavení velikosti šedé ekonomiky a míry otevřenosti ekonomiky. Závěrem jsou diskutovány dopady fiskálních politik na stav veřejného dluhu, celkových daňových příjmů a velikosti šedé ekonomiky.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to specify the effects of fiscal policy on the development dynamics of selected macroeconomic indicators, taking into account the existence of the shadow economy. The dynamics of the impacts of government measures depending on the phase of the coronavirus crisis is compared using counterfactual analysis. For the purposes of the analysis, the corresponding stochastic model of the general balance of the open economy is selected. This model considers the division of the economy into formal and informal parts. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the existing knowledge about shadow economy is discussed and also the model approach is presented. The practical part provides model estimation, choice of initial settings, a simulation of an alternative setting of the size of the shadow economy and degree of economic openness. Finally, the effects of fiscal policies on the public debt, total tax revenues and the size of the shadow economy are discussed.
