Contemporary Dance in Czech Republic from Cultural Management Perspective

Abstract:

Diplomová práce popisuje situaci současného tance v České republice z pohledu kulturního managementu. Nejprve je definován pojem současný tanec ve vazbě na historický a politický vývoj. Poté se práce věnuje analýze aktuálního stavu tanečního umění v České republice. Zjišťuje do jaké míry stát v rámci své kulturní politiky současný tanec podporuje, jak se tato podpora projevuje v praxi. Zaměřuje se především na taneční infrastrukturu, organizace zabývající se tancem a pořádáním tanečních festivalů, vzdělávací instituce atd. Systém České republiky je poté srovnáván s vybranými evropskými státy. V poslední kapitole jsou navrhována možná řešení, která by do budoucna měla napomoci efektivnějšímu rozvoji tohoto uměleckého druhu v našem státě. Cílem práce bylo zdokumentovat situaci současného tance v ČR, poskytnout čtenářům ucelený náhled na tuto problematiku. Práce by mohla dále sloužit jako zdroj informací pro další badatelské snahy v jednotlivých oblastech tanečního umění.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the situation of contemporary dance art in the Czech Republic from the perspective of cultural management. First I define the concept of the contemporary dance in relation to historical and political developments. Thereafter, the work deals with analyzing the current status of dance art in the Czech Republic. It identifies the extent to which the State supports the dance art as part of its current cultural policy, and how is this aid exerted in practice. The thesis focuses primarily on dance infrastructure, organizations involved in the dance art and the organization of dance festivals, on educational institutions, etc. The Czech Republic is then compared with selected European countries. In the last chapter, possible solutions to the future to help more efficient development of this type of art in Czech Republic are proposed. The aim of this work was to document the situation of contemporary dance in the Czech Republic and to give its readers a comprehensive view on this issue. The work could also serve as a source of informations for further research efforts in different fields of dance art.
