Abstract:

Pozadí: Genderově podmíněné násilí (GPN) na ženách je celosvětovou pandemií v oblasti zásahů do lidských práv. Tento typ zneužívání je mezi ženami a dívkami běžný a má nepříznivý dopad na jejich fyzickou pohodu, osobní růst a společenské blaho. GPN na ženách je ovlivněno strukturálními genderovými nerovnostmi a výskyt GPN také prohlubuje genderové nerovnosti. Cíle: Studie si vytyčila za cíl prozkoumat socioekonomický dopad GPN na socioekonomický status žen ve vztahu ke studijním perspektivám optikou studentů magisterského studia oboru sociální práce na Ghanské univerzitě. Cílem studie bylo rovněž vyhodnocení převládajících forem násilí na ženách v Ghaně a identifikace úspěchů, kterých bylo dosaženo v oblasti ochrany žen před GPN, a také posouzení právních rámců a politik, které jsou k dispozici při řešení GPN na ženách. Postupy: Studie použila smíšený výzkumný design a využila primární data, jejichž prostřednictvím respondenti odpovídali na polostrukturované rozhovory nebo dotazníky. Při výběru 98 respondentů pro tuto studii byl použit účelový výběr. Výsledky: Studie ověřila, že GPN páchané na ženách je závažným problémem v oblasti lidských práv a rozvoje, který má pro ženy smrtící ekonomické a sociální dopady. Studie zdůraznila, že IPV je nejrozšířenější formou GPN, kterou ženy v Ghaně trpí. Za jeden z největších úspěchů dosažených při řešení problematiky GPN v Ghaně studie označila zákon o násilí na lidech z roku 2007. I přesto několik překážek včetně špatné vymahatelnosti práva, kulturních předsudků, nedostatku odpovídající infrastruktury a zdrojů a chudoby oslabilo účinnost právních předpisů a institucí upravujících problematiku GPN na ženách v Ghaně, což zároveň brzdí snižování míry GPN na ženách a jeho dopadů na ženy.

Abstract:

Background: Gender-based violence against women is a global pandemic that violates human rights. This abuse is prevalent among women and girls and adversely impacts their physical well-being, empowerment, and social welfare. GBV against women is influenced by structural gender inequalities and GBV occurrence also widens gender inequalities. Objectives: The study sought to examine the socio-economic impact of GBV on women’s socio-economic status based on a study perspective from the University of Ghana’s Social Work master’s students. The study also sought to ascertain the prevalent forms of GBV against women in Ghana and identify achievements that have been made to protect women from GBV and also to assess legal frameworks and policies available to address GBV against women. Method: The study employed a mixed-method research design and utilized primary data through which semi-structured interviews or questionnaires were responded to by the study respondents. Purposive sampling was used in selecting the 98 respondents of this study. Results: The study reviewed that GBV against women is a serious human rights and development problem with lethal economic and social effects on women. The study highlighted that IPV is the most prevalent form of GBV suffered by women in Ghana. The study also identified the DVA of 2007 as one of the biggest achievements made toward addressing GBV in Ghana. However, several obstacles including poor law enforcement, cultural biases, lack of adequate infrastructure and resources, and poverty have reduced the effectiveness of legislation and institutions governing GBV against women in Ghana and these have also impeded GBV reduction and its effects on women.
