Black coal dumps as a landscape phenomenon of Ostrava

Abstract:

Problematika hald a jejich dopad na krajinu je stále téma aktuální. Předložená bakalářská práce se věnuje černouhelným haldám jako krajinnému fenoménu Ostravska. Práce je vypracována na základě analýzy odborné literatury, která se v úvodních kapitolách zaměřuje na celkovou charakteristiku Ostravy (Ostravska), následně na vznik hald jako produkt odpadní technologie při těžbě uhlí a jejich základní klasifikaci včetně typologie. Následující kapitola se věnuje historii vybraných ostravských hald, které patří k těm významnějším. V dalších částech práce je pozornost věnována charakteristice hald vzhledem k jejich specifickým fyzikálním, mikroklimatickým a biotickým vlastnostem, haldě jako ekosystém s popisem probíhající sukcese a kapitole dokazující biotickou hodnotu hald. Velká pozornost je věnována způsobům ekologické obnovy hald rekultivací (včetně různých typů rekultivací) a prezentace názorů různých odborníků z řad přírodovědců na základní otázku zda haldy rekultivovat či nikoliv, s konečným zhodnocením významu hald v krajině.

Abstract:

The issue of dumps and their impact on the landscape is still topical problem. This thesis is also focused on this topic, which are black coal dumps as a landscape phenomenon of the Ostrava region. The thesis is worked out on the basis of professional literature analysis, which in the introductory chapters focuses on the overall feature of Ostrava and subsequently on the formation of dumps and their basic classification, including typology. The following chapter deals with the history of selected Ostrava dumps, which belong to the most important ones. Another part of the thesis includes dumps characterization, describes their specific physical, microclimatic and biotic properties, the next chapter of the dump as an ecosystem with a description of the ongoing succession and a chapter demonstrating the biotic value of the dumps. Great attention is devoted to ways of ecological renewal with one specific process of dumps rehabilitation by recultivation (including various types of recultivation) and presents the opinions of experts concerning the question whether recultivate the dumps or not, with the final evaluation of the dumps significance in the landscape.
