Jan Kantůrek's Notes in the Translation of Terry Pratchett's Discworld Series
Abstract:
In the Czech version of Terry Pratchett's Discworld Series, Kantůrek's translator's notes are divided into several groups. Notes on translation are analysed and it is shown how Kantůrek is prominent as the translator. Special notes are examined and proved to be the means of communication with the reader. Kantůrek is identified as breaking the conventions of translating.
