Czech and Polish Baroque drama (attempt to compare)

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce jsou polské a české barokní hry s vánoční tematikou a pokus o jejich komparaci. V práci je pojednáno o době a prostředí vzniku her s přihlížením na jazyk, nímž byly původně psány. Hlavní těžiště spočívá v žánrové charakteristice jednotlivých děl a analýze a interpretaci jejich prvků. Všímáme si postav pastýřů, Svaté rodiny, tří králů, Heroda a dalších, poklony pastýřů, jejich dárků a proseb o odměnu, také písni objevujících se v obou národních literaturách. Závěrem jsou shrnuty základní znaky vánočních her a provedena celková komparace.

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis are Czech and Polish Baroque dramas with Christmas subject matter and an attempt to compare them. The thesis refers to the and the environment of the origin of plays, taking into consideration the language, in which they were originally written. However, the main focus lies in the genre characteristics of the individual plays and the analysis and interpretation of their elements. The thesis brings up the figures of the shepherds, the Holy Family, the three kings, Herod and others, the adoration of the shepherds, their gifts, and the prayers of reward, as well as songs appearing in both national literatures. The conclusion resumes the basic hallmarks of Christmas plays and the comparison of them.
