The role of employee magazine within the internal communication of the organization

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá zaměstnanecký časopis jakožto jeden z nástrojů umožňující efektivnější vnitrofiremní komunikaci. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda zaměstnanecký časopis naplňuje očekávání definované managementem v oblasti firemní komunikace mezi managementem a zaměstnanci. V teoretické části jsou rozpracovány základní teoretické koncepty týkající se vnitrofiremní komunikace, zaměstnaneckých časopisů a funkcí zaměstnaneckého časopisu. Pro sběr dat byly provedeny kvalitativní rozhovory a obsahová analýza dokumentů. V analytické části jsou představena a interpretována zjištění týkající se očekávání autorů časopisu od jeho role v rámci vnitrofiremní komunikace a přijetí Časopisu zaměstnanci. V závěru jsou uvedena doporučení pro vybranou organizaci a pro další výzkum.

Abstract:

The Master’s thesis explores employee magazine as a one of the tools for effective internal communication of organization. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether employee magazine meet the expectations defined by management/magazine´s editors in the area of communication between management and employees. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the basic concepts regarding internal organizational communication, employee magazines and function of internal organizational communication are described. The qualitative interviews and content analysis were conducted in order to collect data. The analytic part introduces and interprets results of research concerning expectations of magazine editors from the role of magazine within internal organizational communication and the perception of magazine by employees. With the help of, the thesis answers a question whether there is a difference between the ideas and expectations of Czech workers and foreign managers and whether these differences lead to conflicts at the chosen work places. In conclusion recommendation for chosen organization and for future research is provided.
