Population biography of the Jeseník district - impacts of district creation and comparison with neighboring districts

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaobírá populačním vývojem okresu Jeseník, jakožto nejmladšího okresu Česka, od jeho vzniku v roce 1996 až do roku 2020. Cílem práce je nejen popsat vývoj samotného zkoumaného okresu, ale také porovnat ho s vývojem v sousedních okresech Šumperk a Bruntál. Analytická část práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol dle charakteru zvolených témat, kterými jsou přirozená měna, migrace, počet obyvatel a nezaměstnanost. Výzkum se opírá především o relevantní datové sady vydané Českým statistickým úřadem a Ministerstvem práce a sociálních věcí. Potvrdila se počáteční hypotéza, že vzhledem k periferní poloze při státních hranicích má situace na Jesenicku postupně se zhoršující tendenci, a to ve všech zkoumaných aspektech. Oproti hypotéze se však jednoznačně nepotvrdilo, že je na tom okres Jeseník výrazně hůře než jeho sousedé, situace v okrese Bruntál je totiž do jisté míry podobná. V blízké budoucnosti se dá předpokládat, že zhoršující se trend se měnit nebude.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the population development of the Jeseník district, as the youngest district in the Czech Republic, from its establishment in 1996 to 2020. The aim is not only to describe the development of the researched district, but also to compare it with the development in neighboring districts Šumperk and Bruntál. The analytical part of the work is divided into four chapters according to the nature of the selected topics, which are natural increase, migration, population and unemployment. The research is based primarily on relevant data sets issued by the Czech Statistical Office and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The hypothesis that due to the peripheral position at the state borders the situation at the Jeseník district has a gradually deteriorating tendency in all the examined aspects examined was confirmed. Contrary to the hypothesis, however, it has not been unequivocally confirmed that the situation of the Jeseník district is significantly worse than its neighbors, as the situation in the Bruntál district is quite similar. In the near future it can be assumed that the deteriorating tendency will not change.
