Comparison of the contributions of Andrej Babiš and Dominik Feri on social networks in the first year of the coronavirus crisis

Abstract:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce byla analýza politické komunikace na sociální síti Twitter. Konkrétně se jednalo o předvolební komunikaci dvou lídrů v prezidentských volbách v České republice, které proběhly v roce 2023. Analyzoval jsem dohromady 235 příspěvků z oficiálních účtů Petra Pavla a Andreje Babiše. Na tomto základě jsem identifikoval narativy příznačné pro jejich komunikaci. K vypracování jsem použil kvalitativní analýzu podpořenou daty z kvantitativní analýzy, která se týkala klíčových slov ve zmiňované komunikaci. Na základě klíčových slov a obsahové analýzy jsem identifikoval narativy, které jsem rozdělil do kategorií podle toho, jestli se jednalo o dobu před prvním kolem nebo druhým kolem voleb. Následně jsem mezi narativy Pavla a Babiše hledal podobnosti a odlišnosti a vysvětloval změny v komunikaci během jednotlivých kol.

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis was the analysis of political communication on the social network Twitter. Specifically, it concerned the pre-election communication of two leaders in the 2023 presidential elections in the Czech Republic. I analysed a total of 235 posts from the official accounts of Petr Pavel and Andrej Babiš. On this basis, I identified narratives characteristic of their communication. I used a qualitative analysis supported by data from a quantitative analysis of the keywords in the aforementioned communications. Based on the keywords and the content analysis, I identified narratives that I categorised according to whether they were before the first round or the second round of the election. Subsequently, I looked for similarities and differences between the narratives of Pavel and Babiš and explained the changes in communication during each round.
