"Revolution, Unity, Nation and Socialism!" Key Terms of the Political Press in Years 1945-1948 and Their Use in Education

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce sestává ze dvou hlavních částí – odborné a didaktické. Odborná část se snaží objasnit, jakým způsobem jsou v tisku čtyř českých politických stran KSČ, ČSNS, ČSL a ČSSD vydávaném v Brně v letech 1945-1948 užívána slova revoluce, jednota, národ a socialismus. Protože tato slova byla používána mnohdy v podobných srovnatelných situacích i dříve v minulosti, ale i později v budoucnu a jinde, bylo dalším cílem tento tématem práce vymezený prostor a dobu (Československo 1945-1948) kontextualizovat, interpretovat (teorie totalitarismu a politických náboženství) a umístit v širším časovém a prostorovém rámci. Jádrem výzkumu je analýza slova revoluce, jelikož slova jednota, národ a socialismus jsou již jednak dostatečně zpracována v odborné literatuře a jednak jsou v tisku používána často ve spojení se slovem revoluce. Protože si různé otázky žádají různá řešení, výzkum kombinuje více přístupů a metod textové analýzy (diskurzivní, dějiny pojmů). Didaktická část zkoumá zdali a případně jak by se dal výzkum z předchozí části využít ve školní výuce založené na šesti konceptech historického myšlení Petera Seixase. Magisterská práce tak organicky navazuje na moji bakalářskou práci, v níž jsem se nacionalismem, socialismem a revolucí také zabýval.

Abstract:

The master's thesis consists of two main parts - professional and didactic. The professional part tries to clarify how the words revolution, unity, nation and socialism are used in the press of the four Czech political parties KSČ, ČSNS, ČSL and ČSSD published in Brno in the years 1945-1948. Because these words were often used in similar comparable situations in the past, but also later in the future and elsewhere, another goal of this work was to contextualize, interpret the space and time (Czechoslovakia 1945-1948) (theories of totalitarianism and political religions) and placed in a wider temporal and territorial framework. The core of the research is the analysis of the word revolution, as the words unity, nation and socialism are already sufficiently processed in the professional literature and are often used in the press in connection with the word revolution. Because different questions require different solutions, research combines multiple approaches and methods of textual analysis (discursive, conceptual history). The didactic part examines whether and how could the research from the previous part be used in school teaching based on six concepts of historical thinking by Peter Seixas. The master's thesis thus naturally follows on from my bachelor's thesis, in which I also dealt with nationalism, socialism and revolution.
