The thesis focuses on the drama Masquerade by the Russian writer Mikhail Yurievich Lermontov in the historical context of previous artistic movements. Through an analysis of Aristotle's Peotica and selected plays of antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, Classicism and Romanticism, it determines to what extent The Masquerade adheres to Aristotle's (or, more precisely, antiquity's) principles …more
