Presentation and construction of masculinities in and early intervention centre

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá konstrukcí maskulinit u klientů a klientek (13 až 18 let) nízkoprahového zařízení pro děti a mládež. Pro deskripci jednotlivých konstrukcí je využito terénních poznámek.Teoretickým východiskem je koncept doing gender (West a Zimmermann) a pojetí maskulinit jako mnohých (Connell). Maskulinity jsou chápány jako v interakcích konstruované dosahování na určitou pozici v genderovém řádu (maskulinity mohou konstruovat jak muži, tak ženy). Connell rozlišuje 4 základní typy maskulinit: hegemonní, spoluúčastnou, marginalizovanou a podřadnou. Dále pak předkládá koncept protestní maskulinity. Mezi jednotlivými maskulinitami existují vztahy moci. Jakkoli je hegemonní maskulinita v rámci západní Evropy a USA popsána (Šmídová, Badinter), konkrétní projevy na Lokální úrovni mohou variovat. S tím také konstrukce ostatních typů maskulinit. Otázkou je, jak jsou v interakcích konstruovány maskulinity v Nízkoprahovém zařízení pro děti a mládež Bota? Které typy, podle Connell, se v konstrukcích objevují? Práce zkoumá interakce mezi klienty, klientkami, pracovníkem a pracovnicemi a rozděluje je podle typologie Connell. V konstrukcích maskulinit popisuje společné prvky a vztahy, které mezi aktéry a aktérkami v interakcích vznikají.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on construction of multiple masculinities by Youth clubs´ clients (13 to 18 years). Fieldnotes is used with aim to describe these constructions. Theoretical starting point is the concept of doing gender (West and Zimmermann) and the concept of multiple maskulinities (Connell). Maskulinities are understood as interactions designed to attaining a position in gender order (maskulinities can construct both men and women). Connell distinguishes 4 basic types of maskulinities: Hegemonnic, Complicit, Marginalized and Subordinate. Furthermore, she presents the concept of Protest maskulinity. There are power relations between them. While hegemonic masculinity is described within Western Europe and the U.S. (Šmídová, Badinter) at the Global/Regional level, concrete manifestations at the Local level may vary. This also influence constructions of other maskulinities. The question is how masculinitites in interactions are constructed in the Youth club Bota? Which types of maculinities, according to Connell, can be described ? The work explores interactions between clients and workers according to the typology of Connell. It describes common elements and relationships in interactions arising between the actors.
