The Position of Women in America in the 1950s

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the position of women in the mid-twentieth century. The first chapter presents a brief outline of the history, its social and political background. The second part introduces white middle-class women and their problems according to Betty Friedan and her masterpiece Feminine Mystique. Third part deals with Afro-American women. Last part summarizes and analyzes the second as well as the third part and presents my point of view, evaluates mutual interaction with female gender, social classes or race problems, which occurred during the period. I study whether the position of American women in the 1950s is exactly the same as it presents the Betty Friedan´s text ? The Feminine Mystique.

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá postavením žen v USA v polovině 20.století. První část je zaměřena na historii a její socialní a politický podtext. Druhá část nás seznamuje s bílými ženami střední třídy, kde jsem se držela knihy Feminine Mystique od Betty Friedanové. Třetí část věnuje pozornost afro-americkým ženám. V poslední kapitole se věnuji převážně celkovému shrnutí druhé a třetí části, stejně tak její analýze. Zaměřuji se na oblast třídních a rasových rozdílů mezi ženami, které se v době objevovaly, a také zkoumám, zda postavení všech amerických žen v 50. letech, 20. století, odpovídá obrazu, který prezentuje klasický text Betty Friedanové ? ?Feminine Mystique?.
