Parenting style as an expression of self-concept family

Abstract:

Tato práce řeší problematiku výchovných stylů v rodinách. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaké výchovné styly jsou nejčastěji uplatňovány v rodinách s dětmi do patnácti let. V teoretické části jsem se věnovala problematice rodiny, výchovy a výchovných stylů. Praktickou část jsem zaměřila na zjišťování podobnosti výchovných stylů v rodinách s podobným socioprofesním postavením rodičů. Zvolený problém jsem řešila pomocí kvalitativního výzkumu, použila jsem metodu hloubkového polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s deseti vybranými respondenty z rodin s různým socioprofesním postavením. Provedla jsem analýzu rozhovorů, určila jsem výchovné styly v rodinách respondentů a provedla jejich komparaci. Provedeným výzkumem jsem zjistila, že socioprofesní postavení rodičů je jeden z významných faktorů, který ovlivňují výchovný styl. Našla jsem řadu shodných znaků v uplatňovaném výchovném stylu především u kategorie zkoumaných respondentů s vyšším socioprofesním postavením. Hlavním zjištěním je fakt, že socioprofesní postavení rodičů je významným determinantem výchovného stylu, který však je nutno posuzovat v širokém kontextu sociálních a kulturních podmínek rodiny. Všechny tyto faktory pak činí z každé rodiny jedinečnou neopakovatelnou jednotku s vlastní vnitřní identitou.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the issue of parenting styles. Its goal is to find out what parenting styles are frequently applied in families with children up to fifteen years old. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with family and parenting (and parenting styles), the practical part strives to find out whether there is any similarity in parenting styles based on social and professional standing of the parents. I used qualitative research as an approach, using semi-structured deep interview with ten respondents selected from families with a different social a professional standing. I analyzed the interviews, determined the parenting styles of the individual families, which were then compared. The research has found out that the parent's social and professional standing is one important factor which affects the parenting style. The highest level of similarity was observed in the parenting styles of the respondents with high social and professional standing. The key finding is the fact that social and professional standing of parents is an important determining factor of the parenting style, which however needs to be seen in the context of broader social and cultural conditions of a given family. All these factors taken together then make each family a unique social unit with its own identity.
