Goverment Defense Spendings in Czechoslovakia between the years 1930-1938

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce bylo analyzovat rozsah a strukturu vládních výdajů na obranu v Československu v období 30. let 20. století včetně faktorů, které výši a strukturu těchto výdajů ve sledovaném období ovlivňovaly. Hlavní hypotézu, že se výdaje na obranu v souvislosti s obrannou politikou Československa ve 30. letech zvyšovaly a významně se podílely na růstu odvětví zbrojní výroby, se podařilo potvrdit. Od roku 1934 docházelo k růstu těchto výdajů v souvislosti s rostoucím mezinárodním napětím. Jejich financování probíhalo prostřednictvím státního rozpočtu, ale vzhledem k jejich razantnímu navyšování i prostřednictvím dalších fondů či státních půjček. Se zvyšováním výdajů na zbrojení souvisel dle závěrů práce také rozvoj odvětví zbrojní výroby, pokles nezaměstnanosti a růst HDP.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis was to analyze the scope and structure of government defense spending in Czechoslovakia in the 1930´s, along with the factors that affected the level of spending in this time period. The main hypothesis that defense expenditures in connection with the defense policy of Czechoslovakia increased in the 1930´s and that they significantly contributed to the growth of the arms production sector was proved. These expenditures were growing since 1934 in connection with increasing international tensions. Most of the financing was facilitated by the state budget but later also through other funds and state loans, especially due to the rapid increase in financial demands. The conclusion of this thesis shows that development of the arms production sector, decline in unemployment and GDC growth were also related to the increase in armaments expenditures.
