Intercultural communication in hospitality and gastronomy with Focus on Arabic-Islamic culture

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is about Intercultural communication in hotel and gastronomy with Focus on Arabic-Islamic culture, it focuses on the issues of Arabic-Islamic clientele and communication in the hotel environment. The paper is divided into three parts in total. The first part, theoretical, contains information based on the literature. It defines concepts intercultural communication, Arabic culture and its specifics and Islam as religion. Second part, analytical, focuses on Arabic-Islamic incoming tourism, which is expressed in statistic dat. Second subchapter based on interviews with managers in Four Seasons Hotel Prague, which analyses routines and habits that are specific to this culture. The aim of the thesis is to examine and evaluate differences in communication with Arabic-Islamic clientele. On the base of collected data, in the third part are suggestions which help hoteliers in the Czech Republic better understand Arabic-Islamic culture and make communication between client and hotel staff more efficient.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca na tému Interkultúrna komunikácia v hotelierstve a gastronómii so zameraním na arabsko-islamskú kultúru sa zameriava na problematiku arabsko-islamskej klientely a komunikácie v hotelovom prostredí. Práca je celkovo rozdelená do troch častí. Prvá časť, teoretická, obsahuje informácie , ktoré vychádzajú z literatúry. Vymedzuje pojmy ako je interkultúrna komunikácia, arabská kultúra a jej špecifiká a náboženstvo Islam. Potom nasleduje druhá časť, analytická, ktorá sa zameriava na príjazdový cestovný ruch z arabsko-islamských krajín, ktorý je vyjadrený v štatistických údajoch. Druhá podkapitola je venovaná rozhovorom vedenia Four Seasons Hotel Prague, kde sú analyzované zvyky, ktoré sú špecifické pre túto klientelu. Cieľom práce je preskúmať a zhodnotiť diferencie v komunikácii arabsko-islamskej klientely. Na základe zozbieraných dát budú v tretej časti, návrhovej, zosumarizované výstupy s jednotlivými návrhmi, ktoré môžu pomôcť hotelierom v Českej republike pochopiť lepšie arabsko-islamskú kultúru a tak zefektívniť komunikáciu medzi klientom a pracovníkmi hotela.
