Implementation of Business Intelligence tools for advanced inventory management

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je navrhnout Business Intelligence (BI) aplikace pro pokročilé řízení zásob v nadnárodní farmaceutické společnosti. V teoretické části jsou definovány základní pojmy související s BI, jsou popsány metody a přístupy pro strategie řízení zásob, které jsou klíčové pro pochopení praktické aplikace těchto nástrojů. Praktická část práce se zabývá konkrétním případem využití BI nástrojů pro optimizaci reportingu řízení zásob v dané společnosti. Zahrnuje nastínění klíčových business procesů, identifikaci problémů, návrh metrik, zpracování BI aplikace a doporučení k její využití. Výsledkem práce je analytický rámec ve formě interaktivního reportu v Power BI pro sledování efektivity strategie řízení zásob a snížení nákladů, což by mělo přispět ke zvýšení konkurenceschopnosti společnosti. Hlavním přínosem této práce je zpracování řešení na pomezí IT a byznysu, které přispívá k zhodnocení společnosti.

Abstract:

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to walk the reader through the process of designing and implementation of a Business Intelligence (BI) application for inventory management optimization in a multinational pharmaceutical corporation. In the first part of the thesis, the basic concepts related to BI are defined, methods and approaches for inventory management strategies are described, which are crucial for understanding the second part of the thesis. The practical part of the thesis deals with a specific case of using BI tools to optimize inventory management reporting in a given company. It includes an outline of the company’s key business processes, identification of its problems, design of metrics, development of the application and recommendations for its use. The result of the work is an evaluation framework in the form of the interactive report in Power BI to monitor the effectiveness of the inventory management strategy and reduce costs, which should contribute to increasing the company's value and competitiveness.
