The issue of school readiness and its assessment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce pojednává o problematice školní zralosti a možnostech jejího posuzování. Hlavním cílem této práce bylo předložit teoretický rámec týkající se dané oblasti a v praktické části zjistit úroveň školní zralosti u sledovaných dětí. Teoretická část se skládá ze tří kapitol. První kapitola je zaměřena na období předškolního věku, jež je zakončeno významným sociálním mezníkem, a to nástupem do školy. Následující kapitola pojednává o vstupu dítěte do školy a to jak z hlediska školní zralosti a připravenosti, tak z hlediska legislativy. Poslední kapitola teoretické části je věnována možnostem posuzování školní zralosti. Praktická část je věnována provedenému výzkumu a prezentaci výsledků, které byly získány prostřednictvím individuální práce s dětmi, jež byla registrována do záznamového archu a prostřednictvím testových metod. Vytvořený záznamový arch vychází z vývojové škály Bednářové a Šmardové (2015) a byl mírně upraven dle Zemanové (2013). Z testových metod byl využit Kern - Jiráskův orientační test školní zralosti, Jiráskův test verbálního myšlení a Edfeldtův reverzní test.

Abstract:

This thesis describes school readiness and possibilities of its assessment. The main goal of this paper presents a theoretical framework on the given subject, and determines the level of school readiness in the monitored children in its practical part. The theoretical part consists of three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the preschool age, which ends with a significant social milestone, entering school. The second chapter deals with children's entering into school, both in terms of school maturity and readiness, and in terms of legislation. The third chapter of the theoretical part describes the possibilities of assessing school maturity. The practical part is focused on the research an presentation of the results that have been obtained through individual work with children that have been recorded in the record sheet including the testing methods. The created recording sheet is based on the development scale Bednářová and Šmardová (2015) and was slightly modified according to Zemanová (2013). From the test methods were used Kern - Jirásek's Orientation Test for School Maturity, Jirásek's Verbal Test and Edfeldt Reverse Test.
