Professional Workload of Educators Working with Children with Intellectual Disabilities

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku zabývající se profesním zatížením vychovatelů, kteří pracují v dětském domově pro mentálně postižené děti. Teoretická část práce je rozložena na čtyři kapitoly. První kapitola popisuje dětský domov jako jednu z forem ústavní péče, přičemž se taky věnuje osobnosti vychovatele, stejně tak jeho kompetencím nebo typologii. Druhá kapitola je zaměřena na pracovní zátěž, se kterou se vychovatelé mohou v rámci své profese setkat. Popisuje jak zátěž fyzickou, tak taky psychickou. Třetí kapitola se věnuje obranným mechanismům zvládání zátěže a popisuje taky možnosti prevence, které mohou vychovatelé v rámci své profese využít. Poslední kapitola je zaměřena na děti s mentálním postižením, zabývá se její klasifikací, etiologií nebo systémem výchovy. Praktická část práce přináší výsledky kvalitativního výzkumu, který se zabýval zjištěním, jakou profesní zátěží jsou vychovatelé v dětském domově při práci s dětmi s mentálním postižením vystaveni. Výzkumný soubor byl tvořen čtyřmi informanty, kteří pracují jako vychovatelé v dětském domově pro mentálně postižené.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is focused on the issue dealing with the professional workload of educators who work in a children's home for mentally disabled children. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter describes the children's home as one of the forms of institutional care, while also focusing on the personality of the educator, as well as his competences or typology. The second chapter is focused on the workload that educators may encounter within their profession. It describes both physical and mental stress. The third chapter is devoted to the defense mechanisms of stress management and also describes the possibilities of prevention that educators can use within their profession. The last chapter is focused on children with mental disabilities, it deals with its classification, etiology or education system. The practical part of the thesis brings the results of qualitative research, which was concerned with finding out what professional burden educators in a children's home are exposed to when working with children with mental disabilities. The research group consisted of four informants who work as educators in a children's home for the mentally disabled.
