Copulas: modeling of dependences

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je prozkoumat funkce kopulí a jejich parametrické a neparametrické metody odhadů. Teoretická část práce se věnuje základním vlastnostem kopulí a nejvýznamnějším zástupcům z tříd dvourozměrných eliptických a archimedovských kopulí. Praktická část práce zahrnuje simulační studii realizovanou v prostředí R, kde porovnáváme odhady parametru archimedovských kopulí získané metodou maximální věrohodnosti a inverzí Kendallova tau. Poslední kapitola je zaměřena především na empirickou kopuli a na jádrové odhady hustot kopulí, jejichž výpočty jsou prezentovány na simulovaných datech.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to explore functions of copulas and their parametric and nonparametric methods of estimation. Theoretical part is dedicated to study of basic properties of copulas and to the most important representatives from classes of two-dimensional elliptical and archimedean copulas. Practical part of this thesis consists of simulation study carried out in the R environment. We compare estimates of parameter of archimedean copulas obtained by the maximum likelihood estimation and inversion of Kendall’s tau method. Last chapter is primarily focused on empirical copula and kernel estimates of copula densities, whose calculations are presented on simulated data.
