Gynecological care in the Terezin ghetto

Abstract:

Předložená diplomová práce je historickou studií z období holokaustu. V teoretické části jsou popsána historická fakta důležitá pro pochopení předložených výsledků v empirické části. Empirická část se zabývá gynekologickou péčí o ženy v Terezíně v období 1941-1945, respektive operačními výkony, těhotenstvím, porody a kým byla tato péče poskytována. Výstupem diplomové práce byly výpočty narozených osob v ghettu Terezín a počty přeživších z těchto porodů z databáze obětí Památníku Terezín. Zjištěny byly nejčastější gynekologické operační výkony z období listopad 1944 až červen 1945 a jména lékařských, ošetřovatelských osobností.

Abstract:

The thesis is a historical study of the Holocaust. The theoretical part describes the historical facts important for understanding the results presented in the empirical part. The empirical part deals with the gynaecological care of women in Terezín in the period 1941-1945, respectively surgical procedures, pregnancy, childbirth and by whom this care was provided. The output of the thesis were calculations of births in the Terezín ghetto and the numbers of survivors of these births from the database of victims of the Terezín Memorial. The most frequent gynecological surgical procedures from the period November 1944 to June 1945 and the names of medical and nursing personalities and memorials were identified.
