Assessment of the Financial Position and Performance of a Choosen Company Operating in the Information Technology Industry in Russia

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to assess the financial position and performance of the Russian information technology corporation „Yandex“. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the Russian accounting system and the presentation of the financial statements of companies that are required to submit their financial statements in line with the International accounting standards IAS/IFRS or US GAAP. The literary review also deals with the characteristics of the selected methods and ratios of financial analysis and with the industry specifics and development of internet services and technologies in Russia. The practical part of the thesis deals with the characterization of the company „Yandex“ and analyses the financial position (represented by the balance sheet) and the financial performance (represented by the Income statement) of the company based on the published financial statements and annual reports of the company using the methods of vertical and horizontal analysis and selected ratios of financial analysis for the financial years 2017-2021. The results of the thesis show the most significant factors influencing the profit and the potential financial problems for the company and the industry.
