Financial stability of the pension system in Slovakia

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to compare the financial stability of two alternative settings of the pension system. In the first alternative, the retirement age is gradually increasing, the second considers a fixed retirement age. To achieve this goal, we will use the population model based on the cohort-component model and the financial flows model working with the income and expenditure of the pension fund. We find that the population will face a gradual decline in population, which will be reflected in an increase in the pressure on the public finance. While in the case of the fixed retirement age, we see a higher burden on the pension fund, in a pension system with the gradually increasing retirement age, the costs of an aging population are passed on to other areas of the social security system.

Abstract:

Úlohou tejto bakalárskej práce je porovnať finančnú stabilitu dvoch alternatívnych nastavení dôchodkového systému. V prvej alternatíve sa vek odchodu do dôchodku postupne navyšuje, druhá uvažuje fixný vek odchodu do dôchodku. K dosiahnutiu tohto cieľu využijeme populačný model založený na kohortne-komponentnom modeli a model finančných tokov pracujúci s príjmami a výdajmi dôchodkového fondu. Zisťujeme, že populácia bude čeliť postupnému poklesu obyvateľstva, čo sa prejaví rastom tlaku na verejné financie. Zatiaľ čo v prípade systému s fixným vekom odchodu do dôchodku vidíme vyššiu záťaž na dôchodkový fond, v dôchodkovom systéme s postupne sa navyšujúcim vekom odchodu do dôchodku sa náklady starnúcej populácie prenesú na iné oblasti systému sociálneho zabezpečenia.
