Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá potenciál fotografie jako spolehlivé vizuální výzkumné metody v kontextu udržitelného rozvoje měst. Klade důraz zejména na schopnost fotografického inventáře fungovat jako komunikační platforma, která podněcuje další rozhodovací procesy. První část studie je věnována teoretickým základům, metodologii a rámci angažované fotografie. Dále zkoumá fenomén udržitelnosti v globálních a lokálních souvislostech a nakonec aplikuje jeho charakteristiky na česká města. Kapitola o zjištěních podrobně popisuje případovou studii chodníků ve čtyřech vybraných pražských čtvrtích. Jejím cílem je shromáždit vizuální data pomocí metody fotografické inventarizace, která budou využita k odhalení aktuálních aspektů udržitelného rozvoje měst v Praze a k podnícení relevantní diskuse a společenské angažovanosti.

Abstract:

This thesis investigates the potential for engaged photography to serve as a reliable visual research method in the context of sustainable urban development. It emphasizes in particular on the capacity of photographic inventory to perform as a communication platform, inciting further decision-making processes. The first section of the study is devoted to the theoretical foundations, methodology, and framework of engaged photography. In addition, it examines the phenomenon of sustainability in global and local contexts, ultimately applying its characteristics to Czech cities. The chapter on findings describes in detail the case study of sidewalks in four selected Prague neighborhoods. It aims to collect visual data using the photographic inventory method, which will be used to reveal current aspects of sustainable urban development in Prague and to stimulate relevant discussion and social engagement.
