From Beowulf to Arthur: The Evolution of Heroism
Abstract:
Tato práce porovnává staroanglický hrdinský epos Beowulf s rytířským románem Sira Thomase Maloryho Le Morte d’Arthur, díla, která patří mezi nejvýznamnější texty hrdinské fikce, aby ilustrovala vývoj zobrazení hrdiny a následný odklon od hrdiny jako jednotlivce k hrdinskému kolektivu v rámci středověké anglické literatury.
Abstract:
By comparing the Old English poem Beowulf with Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur, two of the most influential works of heroic fiction, this thesis illustrates the development of heroic traits and the shift from the heroic individual to the heroic collective in the context of Medieval English literature.
