Analysis of the Causes leading to the Bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers.

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce Analýza příčin pádu investiční banky Lehman Brothers je popsat a zhodnotit faktory, které vedly k bankrotu Lehman Brothers a spuštění finanční krize v září 2008. Poté kriticky zhodnotit důsledky, které vyvolal pád tohoto investičního giganta na americkém trhu. První část práce se zabývá investičnímu bankovnictví v USA. Druhá polovina je věnována faktorům vedoucích k pádu Lehman Brothers, zejména sekuritizace, ratingové agentury, regulace, management firmy a politika FEDu. Jako důsledky byly identifikovány nové zákony v USA a Evropě Dott Frank Act, EMIR a kvantitativní uvolňování ze strany FEDu.

Abstract:

The goal of this bachelor thesis is desrcribe and evaluate the main factors leading to the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers and bursting out of financial crisis in September 2008.Thereafter,we critically evaluate the consequences of the failure Lehman Brothers in US market. The first part deals with investment banking of US. The second part is devoted to the factors that caused failure of Lehman Brothers, especially securitization, rating agencies, regulation, management of firm and FED policy. The consequences of failure have been identified as a new statute in USA Dott Frank Act and in Europe EMIR, and quantitative easing.
